Tout prêt de Mellieha (ou était notre hôtel), se situait Anchor Bay, une sorte de Disneyland en mediterranée. Je m'explique, Malte est régulièrement le lieu de tournage de moult film ( Troie, Gladiator, Da Vinci Code… etc), et à Anchor Bay ont été construits les décors du film Popeye tourné dans les année 80 avec Robin Williams. Les décors sont restés tels quel, mais le tout est devenu un parc d'attraction qui même de l'autre coté de la baie à l'air glauque et kitsch (et on ne parle même pas du faux Popeye qui déambule dans le parc en braillant).
Bref, on y (évidemment) a pas mis les pieds on s'est contenté de l'admirer de loin, puis on s'est promené dans les rochers (pour changer).
Right next to Mellieha (where was our hotel), was Anchor Bay, a kind of Mediterranean Disneyland. Let me explain myself, lots of movies are being shot in Malta (such as Troy, Gladiator, Da Vinci Code… etc), and the set of Popeye's movie (shot in the 80's with Robbin Williams) were built in Anchor Bay. They kept everything as it is, but turned the sets into an amusement park, which even from far away looked cheesy and even a bit creepy (and I'm not talking about the fake Popeye wandering & yelling around the park).
Anyway, we (obviously) didn't visit the park, and only admired it from the other side of the bay, and then we had a walk in the rocky area around.
